As part of the Community Laundry project in Ampilatwatja, one of the needs identified was how the washing could travel to the washing machines if we could not get the machines to the homes. A service like Orange Sky can do this however at a cost of over $15,000 per year, it was not an option.

EndTrachoma District Champion for 9800 & 9815, Sally Dell, set on a mission to provide handmade, designed for purpose, Laundry Bags and approached the Woodend Community Bags group.

The bags are needed to carry bedding and general washing to the laundry located at the school which is a fair walk for some. Woodend Community Bags team member Deann worked with Sally to design the bag to be just right.

Prior to the design being finalised, Sally sent one of the bags up to the community to make sure the residents were happy with the design, quality and fabric selection. They were apparently very happy according to Rachael Byles, Acting Principal at the Ampilatwatja School.

Deanne made 20 purpose designed laundry bags using the fabric that Sally had very kindly provided.

Thank you Sally for your determination to provide these beautiful bags which are very much appreciated by the families in Ampilatwatja.
