Dr. Murray Verso

Rotary Williamstown

Murray is a retired medical practitioner. In 2013, after a 40-year career, he sold his general practice in the seaside suburb of Williamstown. As well as running his own practice, Murray was very involved with organizing and facilitating post graduate education programs for his medical colleagues. He served on many professional bodies, including terms as Chairman of the Williamstown Hospital Medical Staff Group, Board Member of the Westgate Division of General Practice and as a representative on the AMA Victoria Branch Council. Murray also served on the Council of Trinity Grammar School, Kew for 27 years, including 9 years as Council Chairman.

Murray has been a member of the Rotary Club of Williamstown since 1981 and has had numerous roles within Rotary at club and district level. In 2012, he led a Group Study Exchange Team to Maharashtra State in India and, in 2014-2015, he was Governor of Rotary International District 9800. He is now Chair of the D. 9800 Club Vision program and is very involved with promoting the Rotary Foundation, Australian Rotary Health and Interplast. Murray sees the elimination of trachoma in our indigenous communities as a high priority for Rotary in Australia. He is one of the three directors of the End Trachoma by 2020 project and is a board member of Nourish Our Communities Ltd which manages the project.

EndTrachoma was an initiative started by Rotary Melbourne and progressed to be a project led by Nourish our Communities Ltd which enabled EndTrachoma to be a Rotary Districts of Australia project.
