EndTrachoma installs Community Laundry in Ampilatwatja

In August 2024, PDG Ian Dyball travelled to Ampilatwatja in the NT for the final set up of the Community Laundry donated by EndTrachoma.
This project was an extension from the Family-size Toiletry Kits that were supplied by Rotary Frankston North, Rotary Moruya and Rotary Rochester that commenced back in December 2022. Rachael Byles, Family Educator as she was back then for the Families as First Teachers Centre Ampilatwatja, blew me away with the genuine appreciation for the kits, and the lengths she personally went to, to hand out the kits to each individual family, educating each member of the family.
It was back in November 2023 that Sandi first discussed with Rachael the support with the provision of laundry facilities. And we are still to make laundry bags for each family in the community. A project that is in its
From November 2023, PDG Ian Dyball and Rotary Taree got involved with the Ampilatwatja Community. Ian has been instrumental in the logistics of the sourcing, supply, delivery and installation. And it was wonderful that Ian made the trip, personally funded, to be in Ampilatwatja for the set up, and to meet with Rachael and the community.
He also visited Alpurrurulum providing Baby Kits under interesting circumstances. A story for another article.
